Introduction of laboratory

The central laboratory of College of Mathematics and Physics was established in 1985 with laboratory of general physics, demonstration laboratory, laboratory of mathematics and laboratory of information functional materials. The laboratory covers an area of 2,500m2, and is equipped with 2,138 sets of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment with a value of RMB 82.11 million. The laboratory mainly undertakes the tasks for general physics experiments by students of science and engineering of the university, specialized experiments by students of mathematics major and scientific research related to information function and storage materials, and the demonstration laboratory opens to middle and primary school students of Changzhou City as a popular science base. The laboratory undertakes 138,000 man-hours of experiments annually.

The laboratory has 23 teachers,15 for physics and 8 for mathematics. There are 2 professors, 7 associate professors and 14 lecturers, all with master's degree or above educational background.

The laboratory has made teaching instruments on its own, such as polarized light integrated demonstrator, Lorenz-family chaotic system experimental apparatus, BS-I double frequency phase modulation instrument. The faculty members published 18 papers (including 10 SCI papers), prepared 1 category of teaching material and published experiment textbook in 2016.

The physics experiment center was approved to be the demonstration center project of Jiangsu Province in October 2011 with development funds of RMB 2 million, and passed acceptance inspection in July 2014. The center received RMB 3.8 million development funds under central finance project (research center of information functional semiconductor materials and devices), which has been accomplished at present.
