Introduction of Applied Chemistry Major
The Applied Chemistry Major started students enrolment in 1998, and passed the review of bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2002. There are 325 students and full-time teachers in this major, including 7 professors, 10 teachers with vice-senior professional title or PhD degree and 10 with overseas study experience. Main research fields of this major include modern analysis, testing and detection technology, energy chemical engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, etc. Faulty members of this major have undertaken over 15 projects above provincial and ministerial level, including the project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and have been awarded over 20 patents, and have contributed over 120 SCI retrieval papers.
This major trains special application-oriented technical talents in the field of chemical engineering who acquire basic chemical theory, knowledge and experiment skills, master the principles and development trend of modern analysis approach, are equipped with basic theory, knowledge and skills of industrial analytical technology and have the ability related to construction and management of analytical laboratory, maintenance and use of analytical instruments as well as design and implementation of analytical program. The students can be engaged in product inspection, environmental monitoring and surveillance, chemical engineering production and management, etc. in the fields of energy, petroleum, chemical engineering and environmental protection, commodity inspection, health quarantine, import & export quarantine, etc.and can also pursue advanced studies in related disciplines.
Introduction of Environmental Engineering Major
The Environmental Engineering Major started students enrolment in 2003, passed the review of bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2007, and started to officially enroll full-time master's degree candidates since 2012. This major has cooperated with Merseburg University of Applied Sciences in university operation to develop internationalized inter-disciplinary application-oriented undergraduate talents with high quality and strong professional working capability. There are over 460 students in this major at present.
There are 11 teachers in this major, including 3 professors and 4 teachers with vice-senior professional title or PhD degree. Main research fields of the major include integrated utilization of waste resources, control of industrial waste water, control of atmospheric pollution, etc. Faculty members of the major have undertaken about 10 projects above provincial and ministerial level, including the key project of national science & technology support plan and the project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, have been awarded over 20 patents, and have won First-class Prize of China Science & Technology Award for Integrated Utilization of Resources, Second-class Prize of Science & Technology Advancement Award of Jiangsu Province, Second-class Prize of China Nonferrous Metals Industrial Science & Technology Award and multiple other awards above provincial and ministerial level. Faulty members have published over 80 papers which are included in the three retrieval systems (SCI, EI, ISTP).
Introduction of Chemical Engineering & Technology Major
The Chemical Engineering & Technology Major was established and started students enrolment in 2006 and passed the review of bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2010. There are 294 students enrolled in this major of our university at present.
There are 13 teachers in this major, including 9 teachers with senior professional title or PhD degree. Main research fields of the major include fine chemical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial catalysis & separation engineering, etc, while fine chemical engineering and industrial catalysis are the major professional orientation.
The Chemical Engineering & Technology Major has an experiment and training room covering an area of 1,500m2, and the high-level software, together with advanced hardware with characteristics, guarantees the development performance of this major.
The Chemical Engineering & Technology Major bears the development idea of solid foundation and wide professional choices in mind, and aims at training application-oriented talents in the field of engineering technology with integrated development in moral, intellectual and physical education and art, as well as ideological and political ability, professional competence, humanistic quality and physical and psychological qualities. The students master the basic principles of chemical engineering production, specialized techniques and research approaches, and acquire the preliminary capability to be engaged in chemical engineering production, control and management, R & D of chemical engineering products and processes, design of chemical engineering devices, etc. as well as production operation, engineering design, R & D and related management tasks.
Introduction of Resources Circulation Science & Engineering Major
Resources Circulation Science & Engineering Major is the first-batch of undergraduate majors in urgent demand by national strategic emerging industries. The major started students enrolment in 2011 upon approval in 2010, and passed the review of bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2015. There are 11 teachers in this major at present (including 3 with senior professional title and 8 with PhD degree).
Main research fields of the major include cyclic utilization of electronic waste resources, deep processing of rare precious metals, biological metallurgy, control of industrial waste water, etc. In recent years, faculty members of the major have undertaken 1 fully-funded project of the United Nations Development Program, 3 projects of national science & technology support plan, 1 project of National Natural Science Foundation of China and multiple projects at provincial, ministerial, municipal and department level. It has various scientific research and teaching platforms, including the key laboratory for cyclic utilization of electronic waste resources of Jiangsu Province, key development laboratory for deep processing technology & application of precious metals of Jiangsu Province, cycle engineering center for electronic waste resources of Jiangsu Province, practice & teaching demonstration center for resources cyclic utilization of Jiangsu Province, analysis & testing center for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) of Jiangsu Province affiliated to Jiangsu University Of Technology, etc.
Introduction of Environmental Science Major
The Environmental Science Major was approved at the end of 2016, and starts students enrolment in September, 2017.
Introduction of central laboratory
The central laboratory of the College of Chemical & Environmental Engineering was established in 1998. The laboratories in this center cover an area of 15,000m2 with fixed assets over RMB 43 million. There are 13 experimental technical personnel, 5 of whom are senior experimentalists.
Divisions established under the center include the laboratory of inorganic chemistry, laboratory of analytical chemistry, laboratory of organic chemistry, laboratory of physical chemistry, laboratory of instrumental analysis, laboratory of environmental engineering, laboratory of environmental microorganism, laboratory of chemical engineering principles, laboratory of chemical engineering specialty, laboratory of resources recycling specialty, training room of chemical engineering process flow, etc. The center undertakes over 30 experiment and training courses for related colleges, departments and majors of the university with over 200,000 experiment hours annually.
The center attaches great importance to experiment and teaching quality, as well as construction and management of laboratories, actively implements experiment teaching reform, and constantly carries out transformation, innovation, development, etc. of experiment equipment. The center passed the double-foundation laboratory appraisal of Jiangsu Province in 1999, and has successively accomplished the construction of 3 provincial-level demonstration centers in recent years upon approval, namely, the basic experiment demonstration center of chemistry and chemical engineering, the practice & education center of resources cyclic utilization and the integrated disciplinary training center of chemical engineering material and application.
