As the predecessor of the College of Electrical & Information Engineering, the Department of Electronic Engineering was one of the earliest established departments of our university. The department opens the Radio Technology Major of 3-year junior college program in September 1985. It started the enrolment of undergraduate students of Radio Technology Major in September 1988 and acquired the bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 1992. In January 2005, the College of Electrical & Information Engineering was established on the basis of the Department of Electronic Engineering.
At present the College of Electrical & Information Engineering establishes 5 departments underneath: the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Measurement/Control Technology & Instruments and the Department of Automation. The College of Electrical & Information Engineering lays emphasis on the development of faculty team, and the college has a team of faculty members with proper structure, high academic competence and good integrated quality. There are 84 faculty members in the college at present, including 10 professors, 24 persons with vice-senior professional title and 59 persons with Master's degree, PhD degree or above (including candidates). 6 teachers are awarded the title of outstanding core young teacher by the provincial Qinglan Project, 2 teachers are selected as 3rd-level development targets of the provincial 333 Project and 3 teachers are awarded the title of young and middle-aged science & technology leader of 831 Project of Jiangsu Province.
