Material Forming & Control Engineering Major   

This major started students enrolment in 2004in the College of Mechanical Engineering as a core orientation of the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing & Automation. After the development of over 10 years, this major has enjoyed established professional teaching and improved teaching and scientific research performance. There are 11 full-time teachers all with PhD degree at present, including 1 professor, 4 associate professors and 3 master supervisors. The experimental conditions are getting better and better with 3 scientific research and teaching platforms, namely, the key development laboratory of Jiangsu Province for green forming technology & equipment of high performance material, the key laboratory of Changzhou City for re-manufacturing technology and the enterprise postgraduate work stations.The major mainly provides training to develop high-level application-oriented talents with good specialized knowledge and practice capability required by the industries such as equipment manufacturing, material processing, etc. The major development objectives are to help the students master material forming method, basic theories of design and manufacturing of mechanical products and moulds and related technology of crafts and equipment, and in this way, the students are equipped with the capabilities to be engaged in works in various fields, including material moulding crafts and mould design, production management and business operation, technological research and development application, etc.

Function Material Major    

Based on the foundation of the Chemical Engineering & Crafts Major (high polymer orientation), the Function Material Major started students enrolment in 2012 after the application is approved. After the development of several years, this major has enjoyed established professional teaching and improved teaching and scientific research performance. There are 11 full-time teachers at present, 8 of whom with PhD degree, including 1 professor, 7 associate professors and 3 master supervisors. The experimental conditions are getting better and better with scientific research and teaching platforms, such as the key laboratory of Changzhou City for interior decoration & structural components of rail transit vehicle.The major mainly provides training to develop high-level application-oriented talents with solid basic theoretical knowledge, strong practice and innovative capability, mastery of preparation and application of function material and basic skills to conduct ingredient and structure ****ysis and performance test as well as forming processing. The students should also have the innovative spirit, receive the basic training for engineer and be equipped with specialized knowledge in related fields of material science and engineering and the capability to be engaged in scientific research, teaching, technological development, craft design, production, business operation and management in the field of function material.  

Metal Material Engineering Major  

The Metal Material Engineering Major started students enrolment in 2017 after the application is approved. There are 9 full-time teachers at present, 8 of whom with PhD degree, including 2 professor, 1 associate professors and 5 master supervisors. The experimental conditions are getting better and better, and the material forming & heat treatment laboratory (including cast laboratory, plastic forming laboratory, special forming laboratory and heat treatment laboratory) and material testing & ****ysis laboratory, which are equipped with multiple specialized equipment: digitalized no-mould forming machine, melting & casting all-in-one machine, mixing friction welder, etc. with total value over RMB 10 million.The major has 1 key laboratory of Jiangsu Province for advanced material design & additional material manufacturing at present. This major mainly provides training to develop high-level application-oriented talents with specialized knowledge and practice skills in fundamentals of material science, preparation and forming method of material, manufacturing and processing technology of parts, testing and ****ysis method of material performance, metal corrosion and related protection, etc. The students should also receive the basic training for modern engineer, have innovative spirit and are equipped with the capability to be engaged in technological development, design, manufacturing, testing research, enterprise management and business operation in the field of material preparation, material processing and forming, etc. 



Introduction of the Experiment Center of the College of Material Engineering

The experiment center of the College of Material Engineering was established in 2009, and became the experiment and teaching center of Jiangsu Province colleges and universities upon approval in 2013. The center is equipped with a practical teaching team with double capabilities and double qualifications, thus enjoying rich experience in laboratory management, strong capability in experiment, teaching and scientific research and proper structure. At present the experiment center has 9 teaching staff, including 8 persons with masters degree, 1 with bachelors degree, 1 with senior professional title and 5 with intermediate professional title.    

There are 29 specialized laboratories and 1 computer laboratory in the experiment center, covering an area of 5,000 m2. The center has over 1,000 sets of instruments and equipment with a total value more than RMB 40 million, including 50-plus sets of instruments and equipment over RMB 100,000. The experiment center undertakes the practice and teaching tasks of nearly 30 courses in 9 majors of the university, and also provides large-scale high-level experiment conditions for students experiment skill training, experiment research and innovation at the same time, which provides a good practice platform for scientific research and industry-university-research cooperation and plays a positive role in talent development and social service.
