College of Artistic Design was established in 1986 with rich academic atmosphere. The college has been in charge of 6 national level projects, 13 humanities and social science projects under the Ministry of Education and over 20 projects at provincial level. The college has 1 key development discipline of Jiangsu Province, 1 special major discipline of Jiangsu Province, 1 key major category of Jiangsu Province, 1 experiment and teaching demonstration center of Jiangsu Province colleges and universities, 1 key development laboratory of Jiangsu Province colleges and universities and 1 training station of specialized core teachers of clothing design and engineering in vocational schools nationwide.

The college has 82 faculty members at present, who have published over 200 papers in core journals and published over 20 monographs and over 20 textbooks for over 100 times in national art and design work exhibition.

The college has achieved outstanding performance in college operation and management, developed the university management and operation characteristics with academic performance, normal education and technical nature integrated into a whole, and trained over 5,000 artistic education teaching staff and application-oriented design talents for the society. In recent years, the students have participated in various kinds of competitions above municipal level with over 1,000 person-times with over 500 person-times won awards.

    The college attaches great importance to the construction of teaching facilities. The college builds 41 studios for garments, animation, photography,advertising, graphic art, environmental art, multi-media, CAD, etc. and establishes about 50 industry-university-research cooperation internship bases to lay a solid foundation for training of high-level application-oriented talents.
