Specialties and Deciplines


The College of Education has 4 undergraduate majors at present: Pedagogy, Applied Psychology, Elementary Education and Preschool Education.

Pedagogy Major was established upon approval by the Ministry of Education in 2001 and started students enrolment, and acquired the bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2005. The major became the special major development station of Jiangsu Province upon approval in 2010 and passed acceptance inspection in 2012. Pedagogy, the discipline to which Pedagogy Major is affiliated, is the key development discipline of Jiangsu Province, and offers 3 professional orientations: Elementary Education (Chinese, Mathematics and English), Preschool Education and Vocational Education Management.

Applied Psychology Major was established upon approval by the Ministry of Education in 2002 and started students enrolment in 2003, and acquired the bachelor's degree-awarding authority in 2007. There are 265 undergraduate students enrolled at present. The major was approved to be the special major of our university in 2007 and key major of the university in 2013. Psychology, the disciplinary platform to which Applied Psychology Major is affiliated, is the key development discipline of our university.

Elementary Education Major has developed on the basis of Pedagogy Major (Elementary Education orientation). Elementary Education Major was independently established upon approval by the Ministry of Education in 2014 and started students enrolment in 2015. There are 252 undergraduate students enrolled at present. The major was approved to be the university-level brand (cultivation) major in 2016. Pedagogy, the disciplinary to which Elementary Education Major is affiliated, is the key development discipline of Jiangsu Province.

Preschool Education Major has developed on the basis of Pedagogy Major (Preschool Education orientation). Preschool Education Major was independently established upon approval by the Ministry of Education in 2016 and started students enrolment in 2017. 35 undergraduate students are enrolled in the first year, and the major is one of the three newly established majors of our university in 2017. Pedagogy, the disciplinary to which Preschool Education Major is affiliated, is the key development discipline of Jiangsu Province.

Introduction of the Psychology Laboratory

The psychology laboratory covers a total area of 300m2 with over RMB 720,000 total fixed assets. The psychology laboratory consists of basic psychology laboratory, integrated psychology laboratory, physiological and psychological laboratory and instrument room, etc., and is equipped with 42 psychology teaching instruments, 21 sets of psychology teaching, testing and assessment software and 19 computers. The basic psychology laboratory covers an area of 70m2, and is equipped with 12 sets of JGW-B1 psychological experiment rigs and 30 sets of teaching instruments produced by the Scientific & Teaching Instruments Factory of East China Normal University and other manufacturers. The integrated psychology laboratory consists of 5 laboratories: eye movement laboratory, biological feedback laboratory, psychological assessment laboratory, E-Prime laboratory and behavior observation laboratory.

Introduction of the Skill Training Center

for Normal College Students

The College of Education establishes a modernized skill training center with relatively complete functions for normal college students. There are 45 training classrooms of various kinds in total with equipment value of RMB 6.25 million, covering an area of 2,694m2. The center has Putonghua training room, writing skill training room, art skill training room, remote interactive teaching platform (jointly established with class management training room), microteaching training room, education research & learning training room, physique & dancing training room, electronic piano training room, digital music production training room, broadcast & exhibition room of professional skills of normal college students, handcraft training room (jointly established with training room for instruction of children's science & technology activities), training room of psychological test & assessment skills, group psychological counseling room, observation room of children's behaviors.
